Letter to the editor: Taylor's danger goes statewide
By Robert Brattain, Tulsa - 11/7/2009
I have read several letters from concerned citizen questioning the decision-making of the elected official responsible for the security of Tulsans.
Most Tulsans sit by and did nothing while the mayor and her staff relocated all city government offices to another facility, saving the taxpayers nothing. There was some discord about a new baseball stadium but that, like all other opposition to the mayor and her "groupies" went unheeded. When anyone disagreed with the mayor she abruptly walked out of a meeting and instructed all who wished to communicate with her to put it in writing.
This is the child we have running our city government. Therefore, it is keeping within her character to disregard public safety by cutting law enforcement's ability to provide the best safety available for Tulsans.
She is unable to think of solutions to problems. She forces employees to take time off without pay to save money. She demonstrates the managerial skills of a dunce. She fails to accept the idea that others may have solutions.
Her attitude stems from her ego (Kathy, dear, you are so much better than anyone else) and she feels no remorse for harming the well being of city employees by reducing their income and now, no remorse for reducing the security for all Tulsans.
This inept attitude is now being transplanted into the state education system as an advisor to the governor. It is unfortunate that Oklahoma has this to look forward to in the future. At least as a mayor we could have elected someone else but as an appointee she remains our little darling.
(She is so much better than anyone else).
Today she only affects city employees and city safety but tomorrow it will take a toll on the education of our children and thus Oklahoma's future. Presently, Tulsa is operating without the necessary funds as it always had in the city's past.
Imagine the education system of Oklahoma in a few short years. Home school will be mandatory because the education facilities will be bankrupt. Maybe our teachers can take off several unpaid days to save money, thus shutting down the schools or maybe we can disregard all safety measures for our children while at school. Then if we do not like what is going on in the education arena we can put it in writing and little Miss Advisor will take it into consideration.
This is a pitiful picture for us to display. Tulsa's solution would have been to simply elect different mayor. Now it unfortunately requires us to elect a new governor.

The Tulsa World publishes as many letters as possible within its standards and space limitations. The newspaper receives many more letters than it can publish. To help accommodate that surplus some letters are published online only. Letters that can't be edited below the 250-word limit on printed letters or that are written by an author who has published a letter in the past 30 days are often used online only. The newspaper also emphasizes local topics in printed letters. Letters addressing national or international events are often used online.

Robert, I get the impression that you don't like Ms. Taylor.

"She is unable to think of solutions to problems". And your solutions are...? Ahh yes, complain. Should have put your name on the ballot.

Dear Robert, Your pettiness betrays any reason in your shallow complaints. Elected officials--especially when they are FEMALE (Hillary, Nancy, Sarah)--are derided for foolish, nebulous concerns that stem from some concerns that are deeply seated and difficult to dissuade. Perhaps you can relax in knowing that the next mayor of Tulsa will be male.
