Letter to the editor: Stand up for freedom
By Robert Roach, Broken Arrow - 11/6/2009
I am visiting my son and his family in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and news is a bit difficult to come by except on the Internet. A few days ago on Fox News I saw the Irish tenor Ronan Tynan singing "God Bless America." Hearing a foreigner sing it gave me new perspective, especially when he came to the line "land that I love." It is hard for me to understand how he could do it with such meaning. It sort of made me feel he loves it more than some of us. He can see it better than some of us.
I think he understands freedom more than I do. I fear someday one of my grandchildren will say, "Why didn't Grandpa do something about it?"
I will do whatever it takes to keep our beloved country free. We need to tell our politicians in Washington this far and no further. Free speech is where it starts. We all need to stand up and fight for freedom.

Thank God for Fox News or we would have never been made aware of Michelle Obama's comment saying "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country". Which can only lead to the conclusion that she's always hated America up to that point! And now this freedom hating person resides in OUR Whitehouse, a travesty of justice if there ever was! You libs are nothing but blind sheep as what is going on here, please wake up before it really is too late!

With all the amazing information on these wonderful intranet tubes all you could find was Fox News?

Why wouldn’t Ronan Tynan love this country? Now. Just a couple years ago it was a much different tune thanks to the war and fear mongers who ran us aground.

"Why didn't Grandpa do something about it?" Well, Sonny-boy, Grandpa did. He attended tea party after tea party protesting government involvement in health care until he got his way, and government health care was defeated! Unfortunately, this included Medicare, so Grandpa got sick and died. The End.

Don't worry Robert, we got rid of the Bush Administration, the biggest threat to our freedom in my life time, and now if we just get rid of the rest of the ultra right and everything will be just fine.

We are getting our country back and our integrity at the same time. What hurts us are those in congress that do not like our President and act like children when real work has to be done. I truly believe that if a bill were offered that gave the Republicans EVERYTHING they wanted in it, they would still say no!!! I wish that the administration would realize that they have a majority in congress and if they want something passed, just do it instead of trying to get a consensus!! President Obama wanted to reach across the isle and work with the Republicans and they slapped his hand for it!! It's time to forget them and move on.

psychedelikrelik, this was my thought exactly, when I saw the flurry of commercials being aired telling people to contact their Senators and tell them to vote against government-run healthcare, because our idiot Senators would most likely use such calls to justify trying to get rid of Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP,and Veteran's health benefits, because all, of which, are "government-run" healthcare programs. All one need do, is look at who's paying for these adds to see that it's the promotors and supporter's of BIG BUSSINESS,i.e. The Wall Street Journal, the Chamber of Commerce, et. al., and not anyone who cares anything about we the people.
