Letter to the editor: Blue for TU
By Glenn Dobbs III, Owasso - 11/6/2009
OK, OK, I don't know who's calling plays at the University of Tulsa either. Nor do I understand why a talented coaching staff has not figured out that the receivers are wide open on 12-15 yard routes. Howard Twilley, Neal Sweeney, et al. made a living running those patterns. There's a time to go deep and that is not every time.
Football is a very simple game. Don't make it otherwise.
That being said, all of us must continue to support the Hurricane. We once again need to put on our blue and fill the stadium for the Houston game. The coaches will do their part and fix the problems.
We, as fans, must hang in there for better or worse. The young men on the squad deserve that from us. What has happened is not their fault, and I'm quite sure they are doing their very best to right the ship.
They will give us 100 percent on Saturday. Let's all do the same for them. Bring some friends. Go TU!

TU Blue or Die! I already have it in my will - when I die I want my ashes scattered over my beloved city and/or TU. One of the hymns at my memorial service will be TU's Alma Mater.

TU has the misfortune to be in a state with 2 other major collages that vie for the fans. Its always nice to see them do well. But when they do the coaching staff bails and they are off to greener pastures.

TU ALUM KG: Every time I hear Mr. Dobbs' name mentioned, I sadly remember that day in 1968 when TU was ambushed by Houston 100-6. They showed no mercy and Mr. Dobbs was replaced by Vin Carilott, believe was the man's name. He lasted a year or two. Know this Mr. Dobbs is the son or grandson.
