Beau Marsaln had another big night through the air as Metro Christian cruised to a 56-6 win over Okmulgee on Friday night at Patriot Stadium, finishing the regular season unbeaten for the first time in nine years.

The Class 3A third-ranked Patriots (10-0, 7-0 in district), who had already clinched the 3A-4 title, stuffed the Bulldog run game, limiting it to 153 yards. Marsaln finished with 346 yards on 17-of-24 passing with touchdowns of 20, 54, 56, 25, 15 and 21 yards.

The performance also boosted his season total to 2,718 yards.

“The line was blocking well for me tonight,” Marsaln said. “I had no pressure on me whatsoever. My receivers were really focused. They caught every pass.”

The Patriots scored quickly as Marsaln found Conner Rodich for a 20-yard score. The TD was set up by a fumble recovery made by Jake Schooley.

Metro Christian missed a 30-yard field-goal attempt on its next drive, but got a 1-yard TD run from Grant Schmitz to make it 14-0.

The Bulldogs cut the lead to 14-6 on a 45-yard jaunt from Kevin Littlejohn 1:15 into the second period.

The Patriots then got three more TD passes from Marsaln en route to a 34-6 halftime advantage.

One, a 54-yarder, was a short throw to Ethan Roe, who scampered down the sideline to the goal line.

“He broke a pretty good run,” Marsaln said of Roe. “And he just kept going. It is just the heart of our seniors.”

Roe’s TD made it 21-6. He scored another TD from 15 yards at the start of the second half.

Metro last finished the regular season unbeaten in 2000.
