Letter to the editor: Commercial concern
By Charles Paul, Tulsa - 11/4/2009
With all the issues surrounding the negative campaigning of Dewey Bartlett Jr. and Tom Adelson, I have no desire to see either one represent our fair city based on all the "facts" each has portrayed about the other candidate.
What bothers me immensely is a recent television ad for Tom Adelson with the backing of the Tulsa firefighters union. The union members have a right to put their efforts behind a candidate even while in uniform as "representatives of the city." What I am actually concerned about in the ad is the union representative talking on city property. With a fire station in the background, a fire truck is rolling out as the man continues his "support" talk.
I see that city property and obviously manpower (someone had to drive the truck and it had better be a city employee) were used for Adelson's personal benefit.
If Adelson has no qualms in using city property and manpower in his campaign at a time when the city is cutting employees and services to make budget, how much more would he possibly use the city's coffers for his own personal gain once in office? Am I the only one who sees this offense?
Editor's note: Hilary Kitz, Adleson's campaign manager, said the commercial was not made on city property and the fire truck was not rolled out for the commercial, but moved coincidentally while the commercial was being produced. The firefighter in the commercial was not on duty or in uniform, she said.

I have gotten two fliers, at the same time, in the mail on more that one occasion. One of the flyers was all about the liberal things that Dewey Bartlett has done and mockingly referring to him as a conservative and the other is about what a wonderful candidate Tom Adelson is. Both flyers came from the Adelson campaign.

I'm sure campaign managers are always providing us with complete accurate information. . Just as honest as half truth mud slinging ads.

Mr. Paul, nice to see your support for Bartlett showing, but the editor just proved you full of it...

Adelson sealed his fate as far as me not voting for him, the minute our corrupt TFD backed him. He will owe them big time. Enough is enough for returning favors.
