By NICOLE MARSHALL World Staff Writer - 11/4/2009
A man who was visiting from out of town was robbed at gunpoint late Tuesday.
Police are searching for the robbers.
Officers were dispatched at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday to an armed robbery at 6355 E. Skelly Dr., a preliminary police report shows.
The victim, who was visiting from out of town, was leaving the complex when he was approached by two unidentified men. One man pointed a gun at victim's head and demanded his money before fleeing the scene.
K-9 officers arrived and police searched the area, but it turned up no leads.

Welcome to Tulsa.

Criminals don't care if you are from here, there, or live next door. I am glad we got some police officers back and wish the air unit was left intact. Any drop in the bucket against crime is better then none. As stated previously, Welcome to Tulsa.

Well, yet another visitor to Tulsa get a birds-eye view of what Tulsa has become... Yet, still not one word from any community leaders from the areas that produce the most criminal activity asking for stiffer prison terms... nope,.....just silence that speaks volumes...

I think we're getting them trained! Rob the out-of-towners, not the locals.

fredsdad, Are you the one training them? Maybe we should get to the source of the problem... LOL

I emailed our "mayor" weeks ago about crime in Tulsa. A letter came this week with two sentences on it. One was that she forwarded my comments/complaints to the police. The second said that type 1 crime has been lowered during her tenure. That was it!

At this rate we won't have to worry about visitors much longer.

If the victim was visiting friends or family they should have warn him to stay indoors after dark. You may not be any safer there but at least your in own element. What about a description TW, what were they wearing and what did they look like?
TimeWillTell, (11/4/2009 9:36:46 AM)
Knowing how little our mayor cared has made me sleep like a baby! With loaded weapons nearby!

my view...go downtown and check the police report since it is public record or wait until more info is provided...

Let's not forget that KT's entire "tenure" has been focused on bringing visitors into Tulsa. Maybe if they carry their concealed weapons from their car to the BOK center crime will drop. Yes I know you can't take weapons into the center, but who will care!

The mayor is making our citizens violent.
Welcome to America !, Claremore (11/4/2009 9:41:25 AM)
tulsaguy, if you're gonna compare Tulsa to another city on crime, you probably don't want to use Little Rock as your benchmark.
TimeWillTell, (11/4/2009 9:42:01 AM)
Violent from necessity! It's self preservation.

Really? Were the visiting someone from Tulsaworld? That's the only reason I see this as news. My niece came for a visit and stepped in gum at the Wal-Mart parking lot. Can she be news too?

The next mayor needs to put more police on the street patrolling neighborhoods rather than having them sit at speed traps and wait for the crimes to be reported. The police officers assigned to a neighborhood should be known by all on a first name bassis so they can work togther and prevent crimes. We need about 100 more police officers as well. More of them could be volunteers.

Is this the way anyone wants to make the news?

Does the quantity of certain races relate directly to the crime level?
