Maybe you've wondered why you should go to the trouble of making croutons when you can by them at the grocery store. But then you make them, and you get it.
The same goes for so many other foods — french fries, salad dressing, chicken stock. And caramel corn.
This caramel corn doesn't come with a prize in the box. It doesn't need one. The simplicity of just three ingredients — butter, brown sugar and popcorn — makes a delicious treat that's prize enough.
CARAMEL CORN CRUNCH
Makes 3 quarts
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
3 quarts popped popcorn
1. Cream butter; add brown sugar and whip until fluffy.
2. Combine with popcorn and place on a large baking pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 8 minutes or until crisp.
3. Serve warm.
