Tulsa pastry chef Mary Moy-Hochstetler will be one of the three featured competitors on Monday night's episode of "Ultimate Cake Off."
Moy-Hochstetler said this will be the season finale for the show, which airs at 9 p.m. on TLC cable channel 56.
Moy-Hochstetler is pastry chef for LXI, D'Novo Lean Gourmet and Grocer and the Gourmet in KingsPointe Shopping Center at 61st Street and Yale Avenue. Drew Flatt is executive chef.
"Drew asked me if they were going to portray me as the bad person," she said. "I told him there had to be some high drama or they wouldn't have any ratings. I said they probably would have me be this sweet, charming girl who turns into some kind of crazy pastry chef. It was stressful, but I would do it again in a minute."
Moy-Hochstetler's challenge was to make a cake in nine hours that was at least five feet tall and creative enough to win the taste of the client. In this case, the cake was to be featured at Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus. The episode was filmed in July in Los Angeles.
Moy-Hochstetler said she is a native of Minnesota and was working as an adjunct instructor at Oklahoma State Tech when she was contacted about competing on the show.
"They had people in the cake world helping the casting directors. I knew a couple of them, and they told the producers they should take a look at me," she said. "The video I sent in is on the TLC Web site (

)."
A viewing party is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday at LXI.
"We will have some dessert specials, and I will have my team there to chit-chat with people," Moy-Hochstetler said. "It should be fun."
