Good one, Bruce! That pretty much sums it up! I voted for Obama... errr... I mean "against McCain"... but I'm scratching my head on this one, too.

Very good . . . and could be true.

Each reason is good enough. OUJeepster: Stop scratching your head. The European community has now awarded 3 NPPs to Democrats in this decade for not being George Bush. It is a European award and from their perspective, Bush was a disaster. They appreciate the new direction taken by the American people. Those of us who voted for Obama are also being honored with this recognition. (To the rest of you: Cheer up. At least Time Magazine made all of us "Person of the Year" a few years ago). Bruce: You need to work on you Woodrow Wilson. Take away the glasses and the League of Nations caption and no one would have recognized him as Wilson. :)

The NPP is a joke...it has lost all of its credibility. Just another form of bribery.

FTH......you're right. Wonder what Soros had to do with this?

A NPP for showing up and voting "present." That ability alone has gotten the man a long, long way, hasn't it?

Great cartoon, Bruce!!! You are always on the mark!!! World Class political cartoonist. Keep up the good work.

I think Obama won for"changing the direction"of the Us regarding dangerous global warming.Wangarri Mathai was the first Environmental Nobelist chosen as the Committee now accepts that stopping the rape of EARTH/SKY/SEA has a lot to do with Peace.Uninformed Americans are not capable of ACTION,sadly no Oklahomans even dare say"GLOBAL WARMING".

Three of the four presidents shown are noted as being the worst presidents for the American economy during their term. The other was an avid outdoorsman who carried big stick. (make that a big fire stick!) Peace, out.

You republicans are really bad losers, did you cry when you lost as a kid and go crying to mama.

"You republicans are really bad losers, did you cry when you lost as a kid and go crying to mama." - huh? I'm not even going to waste an insult on that one... - Very well done, Bruce!

In retrospect...I disagree with Barack Obama on many levels...and the fact that he won the Nobel Peace Prize was a bit on the comedic side...but after reading the comments here and watching the usual conservative programming the last couple of days...I will have to admit...I think as conservatives, the most appropriate response would have been to be happy an American was given this honor...we(conservatives) have to set a better tone...
James Young, Tulsa, Austin, Temecula (10/11/2009 10:07:34 AM)
I agree with Plante that a reason the NPP was awarded was that BHO is not George W. Bush. Let us not diminish the importance of not being GWB. I have fought against GWB since his first run for congress. I warned that a Bush presidency would be a disaster for America and that proved to be correct. The world hated GWB for what he did that was bad, for what he failed to do that needed to be done, for his palpable ignorance of so many things, and for his arrogance. This prize was a repudiation of that legacy. However, it is also an affirmation of the change of American philosophy to reach out to the rest of the world, to cooperate and collaborate rather than confront and antagonize.

Global warming? How many 100 degree days did we have this past summer? And the summer before? When I was a kid our temps would reach a hundred in mid-July and rarely come down until late August. This is the only year in my life that I ever felt the need for a jacket in July and August. Global warming? I could care less who got the Nobel prize. It has not been an important prize in many years and means nothing. The fact that Obama was awarded the thing only makes it mean even less because the cartoon is correct, he won just because of who he isn't.

El Rushbo writes: {I pretty much think this blows all to hell your GW theory. Please put a cork in the ole pie hole concerning this made up phenomena, it's a non issue! You leftist loons will believe anything.} ER, it’s time to engage the other half of your brain. Global climate change is real and it will affect all of us, mostly in negative ways. Think it is not real? Then why, for one example, are the polar icecaps disappearing?

Plante. You finally did a good one this time!
Bigbadbri, Broken Arrow (10/11/2009 10:22:33 AM)
The President struck exactly the right tone, that of humility. He has changed the attitude of the world by redefining America's role internationally. By striking a tone of peace and multi-lateralism instead of the selfish, go-it-alone, America knows best attitude of the previous administration, President Obama has won back relunctant allies. The NPP is as the President says, "a call to action", and he is deserving of it.

Europeans aren't trying too conquer the world. They learned their lessons from their own individual past empire history's. We, the United States will eventually realize that as well that we can't conquer the world either. Europeans are very civil people. I only hope one day we will too.

Obama is "BLAMED" for receiving a nobel peace prize that came as a surprise to him as well. You must ask yourself, have you ever received a reward and/or pat on the back for something you did that you felt insufficient and a co-worker snuffed you?
longhorn sam, westex (10/11/2009 11:00:41 AM)
With Obama winning this award, much can be said for going around the world apologizing for your country, not to mention dropping his pants, bending over and cowarding in a corner.
2ndjoyce, BA (10/11/2009 11:13:14 AM)
In the future, when conservatives approve of the winner, will the Nobel Peace Prize have credibility then?
Royce, Tulsa (10/11/2009 11:15:58 AM)
It's possible that the Nobel Prize Committee chose Obama because they thought he would bring peace to the Middle East by surrendering in Iraq and Afghanistan, and yielding up Israel to the tender loving care of the A-Rabs.
redbeard, Stillwater (10/11/2009 11:19:57 AM)
What ever happened to "standing behind the Commander in Chief"? When it was Bush, right wingers used that line ad nauseum to push for their pet wars. Now that Obama wins a great honor for, of all things, peace, and right wingers can't wait to tear him down. Their constant, pointless hatred of our President is degrading and unpatriotic. Congratulations, Barak.
