The hype has dissipated, and the impatient American population looses hope when there is no instant gratification. Obama remains relevant. If he were to be postivedly killed then the USA could just get out lock stock and barrel as fast as fast can be done and say we did what we came for and let that God forsaken nation get back to doing whatever it is they do. Just keep it in your own borders. The idea of spreading democracy to countries like Afganistan was the first clue Bush is dumb as a post or the world's biggest liar.

Brilliantly spoken, dustyoutlaw. But the problem with Afghanistan is that all they do is produce heroin and marijuana for the US, extorting money from addicted Americans. Then they use that money to fund terrorism. Not a comfortable status quo. I agree GWB is/was stupid invading the wrong country (Iraq), but Obama is on the right track in providing the Afghan people with the ability to clean up its act.

I think Bruce is spot on - bin Laden is no more relevant than George Bush today. He was the figurehead of a movement, but he can't effectively play that role while hidden in a cave. Yeah, it would be great if we managed to kill him, but our priority should be helping the Afghan people overcome the Taliban and regain their ability to live a life without opression. Would killing bin Laden help us meet that goal? Sure, but in the meantime, we need to keep doing what we're doing as long as it's helping the innocent people of Afghanistan. And dusty's right on the marijuana. Herion is funding terrorists, but not weed. What isn't coming from Mexico is being grown locally.

Bin Laden is the rich son of rich oil people in Saudia Arabia who friends w the Bush family .Bin Laden said he caused 9/11 events to get American troops out of the Holy Land(Saudia Arabia).Bush immediately withdrew American Troops(new American Policy?). Then we attacked Iraq and killed Saddam..Saddam hated Bin Laden and religious nuts and Sadam hated Iran.There was no Alkaeda in Iraq then til we invaded now we are there to fight AlKaeda who were not there in the first place...Now we have total death and destruction,radioactive uranium all over the middle East And all Iraqii farmers have to buy seeds from Monsanto .China is getting oil from Iraq to manufacture cheap plastic junk..We want to fight Iran ,so what good did it do to invade to get rid of Saddam who was willing to fight Iran?? .MISSION ACCOMPLISHED follow the money..

My question is, How is it that we can invade Iraq and find Saddam Husien in a matter of months, but years after, we can't get the real mastermind of the 9/11 attacks? Being friends with the Bush family can keep you from being found and prosecuted.

All wars are fought over money. Haliburton and others make hundreds of millions of dollars suplying everything from food, to boots and uniforms to helicops,jets, and humvees. I`m sure a no small amount of the war profits gets funeled to people in the CIA to misdirect our troops into chasing ghosts instead of binladen.

For years, the US government has provided its citizens with a boogeyman to fear and therefore depend on said government to keep them "safe" from the "harm" this boogeyman can do - the USSR, then Castro, then Chavez, then the Arabs (but not the Saudi Royal family). You rightfully point out the Saudi Royals are personal friends of the Bush family. One of the few aircraft flying on 9/12/2001 was a jet taking the family of Osama bin Laden from New York City to Saudi Arabia getting them out of possible harm's way. Our greatest enemy would seem to be not a foreign country, but our own government.
